High School Guidance Counselor

Was the District Assessment Coordinator for CSAP and ACT.  Worked with high school seniors to prepare a post secondary plan of action.  Held parent financial aide workshop to help with the FAFSA forms.  Promoted and mentored students on choosing colleges that fit their desired career path.  Coordinated scholarships for students to fill out according to their career plan of action.  Scheduled classes for 6th-12th grade students.  Implemented the ICAP plan for grade 6th-12th.  Compiled a group of teachers to form a scheduling committee to revise and revamp our current school schedule. 

 

High School English Teacher

Taught a dual credit English class through Lamar Community College for ENG 121 and ENG 122.  Implemented a teacher as writer work shopping group.  Put into practice the essential components of Colorado Writing Project to inspire students to be writers and readers of their own experiences.  Created innovative educational material for the classroom in the areas of reading, writing, and vocabulary for grades 7-12.    Worked with the social studies teacher to design a holocaust unit to incorporate reading and writing into a thematic unit.  Worked with the science teacher to integrate a writing format to enhance writing for the sciences.  Worked with the librarian to help students investigate different resource options in researching.   Also worked with computer teacher to incorporate technology into the classroom.  Worked with a team of teachers to write grants to fund different units.

 

1st grade Teacher

Created innovative educational material for the classroom in the areas of language arts, spelling, penmanship, math, science, social studies, art, and computers.  Implemented a balanced literacy program that incorporated 1st thru 5th grade students.  Organized and sponsored several different family nights in which the parents and students came together to share what the students were working on in class.  Helped organize a Family Literacy Night that showed parents the way that the school was incorporating reading and writing.  Worked with Vocational Ag teacher on a genealogy unit that integrated the FFA members and the 1st grade class. Participated in Language Arts Clusters sponsored by BOCES.  Trainer of Teachers program implementing Six Trait writing.  Extensive work with Macintosh computers.  Coordinated and planned activities with a team of elementary teachers to enhance the unity of our reading program.  Team taught science with 4th grade teacher and incorporated Step Up to Writing in their lab reports.  Worked with implementing State standards with our school curriculum.

 

Coaching

Head Varsity Volleyball coach at the high school level.  District Champions four years, Regional champions one year, State final four  one year, and State qualifier four years. State Champion one year.  CHSCA Coach of the year.  Recipient of the Hero award presented by the Denver Broncos and CHSCA.  Head Varsity basketball coach at the high school level.  Supervised fund raising to support summer programs.  Implemented a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign in which all money raised by the volleyball players goes to our local cancer fund that helps families out with minor medical expenses during difficult times.  Served on the CCGS executive committee for 3 years.  Coached the CCGS All State Team 2 years and the CHSCA All State Team 1 year.

 

Assistant Athletic Director

Scheduled workers for basketball and volleyball games.  Took care of officials during their evening of refereeing.  Administrator on Duty of various home and away games.

6th grade Teacher

Created innovative educational material for the classroom in the areas of language arts, spelling, cursive, social studies, math, science, reading, physical education, and computers.  Implemented self-esteem program for 5th and 6th graders to motivate students in gaining self confidence.  Sponsored fundraising events to gain class funds.  Extensive work with Macintosh and IBM compatible computers. Coordinated and planned activities with a fellow teacher to incorporate team teaching into the curriculum.  Co-coached the National Academic League team for middle school students.  Served as a teacher representative on the accountability committee.  Worked with evaluating and assessing school standards with state standards.

 

Coaching

Head Varsity Volleyball coach and junior high coach for volleyball, basketball, and track.  Supervised fundraising events to generate money for the volleyball program.  Provided volleyball practices for the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.  Utilized water aerobics as a conditioning technique.  Worked with parents to enhance a positive learning experience with each athlete.
